SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION IN THANJAVUR
Turfs, cricket nets, courts and tracks for Thanjavur's schools, universities and private venues — with raised bases and drainage designed for the low-lying Cauvery delta.
SPORTS FACILITIES FOR THANJAVUR
Thanjavur is the old Chola capital, crowned by the Brihadeeswarar Temple, and the heart of the Cauvery delta — the paddy country long called the rice bowl of Tamil Nadu. Canals and branches of the Cauvery fan out across flat farmland all around the town.
It is also a university town, with SASTRA, Tamil University, a government medical college and many schools and colleges, and those institutions account for much of the interest in better sports grounds. Private turfs and courts are a newer arrival. Because so much of the land is low and the water table is high, the survey is the most important step: our engineers travel from Chennai to do it in person, free and with no travel charge.

WHAT WE BUILD IN THANJAVUR
Every facility type works in Thanjavur — what changes is how high and how well-drained the base needs to be.
BUILT FOR THE CAUVERY DELTA
Thanjavur is hot and humid, and gets most of its rain from the northeast monsoon between October and December. The delta lies close to the coast and in the path of Bay of Bengal storms — Cyclone Gaja in 2018 left a trail of damage across the delta districts — and after heavy rain, fields and low plots can stay waterlogged for days.

Raise the Base
On low plots we lift the playing surface above the surrounding ground with compacted fill, so the court is not the lowest point that water drains towards.
Drain to Somewhere
With a high water table and flat land, run-off needs a real destination. We plan perimeter drains and outfalls to roadside channels or soak pits, and check where water goes when the ground around is already saturated.
Storm-Rated Structures
Netting, fencing and floodlight poles are specified for strong winds, with footings sized for soft, wet alluvial soil rather than firm dry ground.

QUESTIONS FROM THANJAVUR

Our plot waterlogs every monsoon. Can it still take a turf?
In most cases, yes, if the base is raised and the drainage has an outlet. The cost depends on how much fill is needed and where the water can go, which we work out from levels taken on site.
Do you charge to come to Thanjavur?
No. The site survey and consultation are free across Tamil Nadu, and there's no charge for our engineers' travel from Chennai.
Can a sports facility be built to cope with cyclones?
No outdoor structure is cyclone-proof, but it can be designed sensibly: netting that lets wind through or can be taken down ahead of a storm warning, galvanised posts on deeper footings and floodlight poles rated for high wind. We'll explain the options for your site.
